1991 Finnmarksturen is Born. At the first race there were 250 cyclists, the track was at the time only 85 km. Winner in the men's Class was "Gold" Bernt Johansson Nordbanken CK with the time 3.34.08 The women's Class was won by Annica Johansson CK Stefaniterna with the time 4.42.19
Start and goal was at Ludvika Stadspark.

1992 Extension of the track to 102 km. When moving start and finish area to Hillängens sports ground the track had to be changed. Men's class was won by
Kjell Hedman CK Örnen with the time 4.31.56

1993 The Nordic countries now enters Finnmarksturen, with cyclists from Finland and Norway. Male winner of the year was
Kari Myyriläinen HY PO Finland with the time 4.16.40
Female winner was Gertrud Böe Ås Norway.

The foreign cyclists number increases, now with competitors from all Nordic countries. Second year in a row the male winner is Kari Myyriläinen HY PO Finland. Time 4.08.12.
Also in the female class a finnish victory Marina Rantanen Sibbo Vargarna her time was 5.05.45.

1995 This is when the elite starts taking Finnmarksturen seriously. Competitors from pro-cycling team Giant shows up for start as does the Swedish National Mountain bike Team. For the first time the number of bikers exceeded 1000.
The race became a settlement within the pro-team into proffsstallet, winner was Danish Lennie Kristensen Team Giant. Winning time is 3.54.24, which is the record time in this race.
In the women's class there is a Swedish victory by Annica Jonsson Västerås CK with the time 4.53.20.

1996 Premier for Lilla Finnmarksturen. The competition for younger participants with classes from 10-16 years. Lilla Finnmarksturen is taking place the day before the big race, the Saturday.
Finnmarksturen breaks a new record with more than 2000 enrollments.
Winner of the men's class is Swedish
Dan Kullgren Skoghall CK. Winning time 4.02.54. In the female class another Swedish victory Madeleine Lindberg Västerås CK her time was 4.45.54.

Again extension of the track now to 112 km. As the number as participants heavily increases the track has to be changed again to accomplish a higher level of security for the cyclists. Some areas of the track had to be broadened and cleared from obstacles, to reduce crowding at narrow passages. For start this year again more then 2000 cyclists, in the worst rain of the year brave cyclists take off for an exciting journey through the Finnmark's forests. First to pass the finish line is Dan Kullgren Skoghall CK at the time 4.10.26.Maria Östergren IFK Södertälje wins the female class, her time was 5.02.57.

The first female to reach finish was Maria Östergren, IFK Södertälje (Sweden) at the time 4:45:07. For the third year in a row Dan Kullgren was the first male to pass the finish line. But since he was convicted for using amphetamine.Erik Jungåker, Skövde CK (Sweden) become the winner at the time 4:09:18.

The largest mtb competition for youth in Sweden, Lilla Finnmarksturen continues to grow. 424 youth, between 8 and 16 years old stood on the starting line. Erik Jungåker, Skövde CK (Sweden) to reach finish on new record time 3:57:06. Jungåker takes a convincing victory 5 minutes a head to Kim Eriksson. Also in the class of female record time was set by Madeleine Lindberg, Borlänge CK (Sweden) on the time 4:32:03.
